Gunner is a true 80lb Gentle Giant who craves love and affection. Surrendered because his owners spent long days at work and Gunner was kept in a crate which he often broke out of in order to run free…..
He bonded to me immediately and follows me everywhere…..he thinks he’s a lap dog and loves to snuggle…I’m sure he will bond with his next person also as he just wants to please and be loved!
Overall, he’s very well behaved and knows basic commands like sit, down, shake, wait and stay. Walks well on a leash…..my only complaint is he gets overly excited and jumps up, and doesn’t know his own strength …..we are currently working on this and he is very much a puppy and will be 2 in December. For this reason, I don’t recommend children in the mix as he could easily knock them over.
He is up to dates on shots, neutered , microchipped and on heartworm meds.
I’ve rescued and trained many German Shepherds over the years, but in all honesty, I’ve never met a dog as smart as this one…..and his total purpose in life seems to be to enjoy every moment and have fun …..he constantly cracks me up with his silly antics….and I lovingly call him the Doofus’s!!
He’s exceptional, and so his new handler must be also! He'd prefer someone who is home a lot or works from home but he’d love to have another dog to wrestle and play with….he loves teasing with a tug toy….and a secure fenced yard….he can be a Houdini but will come to the front door to see what you’re doing! Has done well with my cats and played non stop with my miniature Golden Doodle.

All prospective adopters must agree to vet reference and home visit. Fenced yard is a must unless waived by rescue. Once approved, a contract is signed and adopter has a two week trial period....if for any reason, it does not work out, dog is returned within the 2 weeks for full refund, I want it to be a win win for you and the dog!
