I’m Shelly!!! I was a turned in as a stray at the notoriously high kill Apple Valley Animal Shelter where somehow I remained for 3 months! It was crazy nobody adopted me even though I’m instantly charming and affectionate to anyone who meets me. I was one of the longest residents there when my foster mama drove 4 hours to get me to safety! Indeed I was a staff favorite- they loved me, but warned my foster mommy about my temper with other cats. After a few weeks in my foster house, I mellowed out though! I no longer hiss or growl at other kitties and want them to play with me! The shelter said I am a year and a half old but my foster mom thinks I’m slightly younger as I’m still very kittenish, playful, and on the small side. If you are having a bad day, I will crawl into your lap and purr. I will refuse to get off you if you need to get up and will lean my weight in the opposite direction (proof is in the picture)! I’m such a lovebug. I have the pinkest toe beans and inner ears my foster mama has ever seen. I am kennel trained and will happily sleep in my crate at night with no fuss. I love to look outside my window at birds and I’m a very skilled bug hunter- I can take flies out of midair! I enjoy playing with toys and napping in my cat tree or on my foster mamas chest. I’m such a good girl and I deserve a loving and secure home. I am a lap cat purr machine, and my foster mom is in love with me but sadly her living circumstances have changed. Please let me be your best friend. I am still learning so much, including how to play nicely, so I would be best in a home as a single kitty or with mellow, patient cats. I may possibly do well with a cat who will play with me, but not with anyone who is grumpy or territorial as I don’t completely understand personal boundaries yet. Nobody knows yet how I do with dogs. I will jump into your lap and steal your heart; that I can promise!
Interested in adopting? Please visit our website at www.thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org to fill out an application. One application covers all cats and kittens staying at our Petco locations, and those in individual foster homes.

Questions? Email us at info@thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org or reach out on Instagram: @thecatsmeowanimalrescue
1. Submit an adoption application at www.thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org
2. If you have not yet met the cat(s) you wish to adopt, come to an adoption event or schedule a foster home visit to meet the cat(s). Please note that we cannot schedule any private foster home visits until you submit an application.
3. If your application is approved, we will contact you within a week to schedule a home visit. One of our experienced volunteers will stop by your home to ensure that you are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the cat. We may also provide tips for integrating the cat into your home environment.
4. We ask for a minimum tax-deductible donation* of $225.00 for each cat you adopt from us. Donations may be made online (via a secure PayPal transaction) or in-person via cash or check. If you are adopting a pair of kitties, the donation is $200.00 each ($400.00 total).
*Additional donations are highly encouraged, as they enable us to rescue another cat from the shelter or the streets. Because our organization is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, we rely solely on donations to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected cats.
5. We will have you sign an Adoption Agreement detailing the terms of the adoption at the time you collect your new kitty. You may view a copy of it on our website.
6. That’s it! You will communicate with the cat’s foster parents to coordinate pick-up. Please always transport your cat in a carrier for safety.
7. We will email or mail you a copy of your Adoption Agreement, a letter confirming your donation, and medical records and microchip information. This usually takes about 2 weeks.
In addition to receiving individualized medical care, we provide the following services to our cats: spay/neuter, microchip, testing for FELV/FIV, flea and dewormer treatments, and vaccinations.
