My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Suki! This sweet girl has had a rough start to life, but her resilient spirit shines through. Suki can be a little nervous in new situations, yet she is incredibly curious and eager to explore the world around her. Because of her sensitivity, Suki would do best in a home with experienced adults who understand canine body language and can provide her with the patience and guidance she needs.

Suki is very playful and affectionate, bringing joy and warmth to those lucky enough to know her. However, she can be selective when it comes to her doggy friends. It seems she may have experienced trauma from being co-housed with other dogs in the past, so for her comfort and well-being, she would ideally be the only dog in the home. This arrangement will allow her to thrive and build a strong bond with her human companions.

Despite her challenges, Suki is a true gem. She has a remarkable ability to form deep connections and will reward her human with unwavering loyalty and love. If you're ready to bring an active and special companion into your life, consider sweet Suki! With a little patience and understanding, she will blossom into the loving partner you've been searching for.

*Suki is currently awaiting a spay surgery, so is only available for foster-to-adopt local to the South Okanagan Area*

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
