My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If your image of a dog includes a happy-go-lucky energy, a smiling-cute face, loves toys, is great on leash and is a friend to all dogs…Dougie is your dream boy! This boys face perfectly fits his personality, you can see the friendly on his face. This a goofy boy with a “studious” side, knowing how to have fun but also smart and eager to learn. He already knows sit and shake and his attentiveness tells me he is going to learn any and everything you want to teach, with ease.

Dougies amazing, well-balanced personality is especially impressive when you consider that he is estimated to be about 10 months old, shy of a year old, you wouldn’t be wrong to call him a big puppy. Doesn’t that make him even more amazing!?

Dougie is currently being fostered with 3 children ages 1-5. He is ever so gentle around the kids. He takes treats softly from their hands, doesn't knock the toddler over when she wobbles across the floor and shares his toy ever so nicely. He is a great walking buddy as he’s easy on leash and will walk right beside you and the kids.

Another way the Dougie is so well balance is in his affection-seeking and playful side. He is a bigger boy, 62 lbs, but he has aspirations for lap-dog life. That does not mean wild though, he approaches love gently and is staying as long as you’re giving. And he isn’t going to sneak up on you, as soon as he knows you are open and available you will see him coming, tail-wagging and on a mission for some love, its adorable, and once you touch him you will see the wiggles. His whole body wiggles in happiness and that same wiggle will show up when he has a loved toy in his mouth.Breed and age are something in rescue we cannot guarantee but we suspect he is possibly an American staffie/ Pittie mix, but definitely a guaranteed cutie boy.

When introduced to new dogs Dougie quickly showed his friendly and unbothered approach to playmates. He is a happy bouncy playmate that is great at suiting his play to his playmate. He loves playing chase but knows when to take breaks and can also play rough and rowdy if invited to. We have been so impressed by Dougie as a doggie playmate and his ability to read other dog, basically he has wonderful dog-to-dog manners and would be an amazing +1 if you are looking for a friend for your current dog.

Dougie will thrive in a home with a yard where he can show off his budding fetch skills, get in a few rounds of chase, followed by a nice little nap in the sun. Another dog would be great, he would love it, but isn’t needed, Dougie adores people and will be content with the love of his family a few good toys. However, he’s a no-go for feline friends—his goofy approach to greetings would cause him to chase a cat and that is not the way to make a friend.

Dougie has all the makings of a wonderful companion and family dog, steady-legged ages and up would be best so he doesn’t knock over a little with all of his wiggle. This boy is going to light up when he sees you and coming home to that everyday is going to make for a pretty sweet life for you both. If you are ready for love and laughs and a loyal companion, Dougie is just as ready! Adopt him today and get to living the next best chapter together!

If you have any questions or would like us to test Dougie in a specific setting, please get in touch. We can make most anything happen to ensure he is the correct fit for you and your life!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
