Spice Girl is so deserving of a great home! She's about 4 years old and this big, beautiful Boerboel arrived in July, 2023 after having a couple of unfit homes. Spice learned to trust and love all over again and she's ready to start over in a home where she'll get all of the attention and good care that she deserves. Shelter-life is taking a toll on Spice and we can tell she gets down but when she's outside with friends, she positively comes alive! She bonds intently with her friends and, as mastiffs are, she's protective of those she's bonded with. It takes her a minute to get to know you but once she does, she leans against you for attention. Spice has a warm, loving personality and she's well-behaved too! She knows sit, stay, down, paw, and so much more. She loves toys, she's good in the car, she even loves swimming! Spice has not had great experiences with other pets in the past so it's best if she's the only pet in your home. That just means she'll love YOU all the more! We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.

Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
