My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vastra is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Vastra is not available to meet on site.

Age: 1 year old
Weight: 3.35kg / 7.4lbs

Meet Vastra, a shy beauty who’s looking for a calm and patient home where she can truly blossom. We don’t know much about her past, but she arrived with several other cats, so she may do well with a feline friend or two in her new home. Right now, the shelter environment is overwhelming for her, and she often prefers to hide. But with a gentle approach, Vastra is sure to come out of her shell and discover the joy of being a cat. If you have a quiet space and a lot of love to share, Vastra might be the perfect match for you!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
