Hi, I’m Cookie, and I’m here to melt your heart! I’ve had a tough start in life. I came from an abusive hoarding home, but I’m not one to dwell on the past. Despite everything, I’m young, resilient, and ready to learn how wonderful love can be. My foster mom says I’m one tough cookie, and I have to agree—but beneath that tough exterior, I’m really just a sweet, gentle soul who’s learning to trust again.
At first, I might seem a little shy or nervous, but with a bit of patience and a lot of love, I’ll be purring away on your lap in no time. In fact, my foster mom calls me her “little lap dweller” because once I feel safe, I’ll happily curl up with you and keep you company.
I absolutely adore other cats, and I’d love to have a feline friend in my new home! A buddy would help me feel even more comfortable and secure as I continue to grow into my confident, loving self.
You know, I think I’m a lot like a cookie—sweet, comforting, and best enjoyed with good company. Why should you adopt me? Because I promise to be the most loving, comforting presence in your life. All I need is a chance to show you how much love I have to give.
Are you ready to take a chance on a tough little cookie like me? I can’t wait to find my forever home!
Cookie is currently at our PetSmart location on Woodward. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
