My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marigold (now called Willow) is fostered in Pleasanton, Kansas.

Marigold is now called Willow by her foster home.  Marigold is one of 3 dogs that we took from a shelter  who helped with a small hoarding situation.  The dogs had varying levels of needs, including health and socialization. Marigold had the least amount of socialization of all the dogs.  *** PLEASE READ HER ENTIRE BIO ****

Marigold is a beautiful red merle toy Australian Shepherd with a tail.  She is 2 - 3 years old and currently weighs just under 15 lbs.  She will absolutely require a quite environment with a patient adopter who is willing to put in some training and socialization work with her.

Marigold is learning to trust and she will approach folks, but she takes awhile to warm up.  She likes her toys and a good chew bone.  She was previously trained to use a puppy pad and her foster Mom takes her outside, where she is doing well with potty training.  She has been sleeping on the bed in her foster home, along with the other resident dogs in her foster home.

She is crate trained, but doesn't love it. She would prefer to be out with the rest of the rest of the resident dogs.  Marigold is being fed in her crate and learning the crate to be a safe place for her. She is not an excessive barker, but can bark when she gets excited.  She could use some work on leash walking manners, but again, this girl has come a VERY LONG way in her foster home already, so we feel she deserves a home that will reap the benefits of what a good girl we know she is with some time and training.

Marigold will require:

  • patient adopter who will work on training and socializing

  • physically fenced yard

  • another social, submissive dog in the home

Marigold is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworm prevention.  Proof of heartworm prevention for current or prior pets is required to adopt from us.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
