My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: Approx 2021

Lila, a beautiful lavender and white 3-year-old lovebird, and is a charmer. DNA Confirmed Male.
For the most part, He is a quiet bird but chitters to her image in the mirror.

He is not hand-tamed but will come out of his cage and fly around before settling on a high perch.  He goes back into his cage on his own schedule. He shows no aggression when his foster mom cleans the cage or changes his food and water.  He gets covered for the night around 8:30 – 9:00 PM and uncovered around 6:00 - 6:30 AM.  He is quiet all night.

Lila is shy and will need loving attention to help him become more comfortable around people and possibly become hand-trained.  He came into foster care after living in one home his entire life.  He’s been going solo, having lost her cage mate 8 months ago.

He’s on a seed diet but enjoys cantaloupe and broccoli.  We are offering pelleted food, with mixed results.

Lila has been disease-tested for psittacosis and PBFD.

Lila is being fostered in Easton, PA, and will only be adopted to a
forever home within driving distance.

We will not ship our birds.
Two visits are required to adopt Lila.

For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA
We do not have a central location.

As Lila is living in a volunteer's private home, we only allow approved applicants to make visits.
If interested in adopting Lila please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
