Meet Miss Parsnip! This sweet girl loves playing with toys, as well as pets and cuddles. She LOVES going outside and rolling in the fall leaves. As a medium energy pup, she is the perfect fit for a family looking for a couch buddy who also enjoys spending time outdoors so she can explore and sniff all the things.
Parsnip is a silly girl who would love to spend all day playing and cuddling with you. She's pretty shy but can't get enough attention once she gets to know you. And if a yummy treat is involved? Forget about it – she is all yours! Her petite size makes her an excellent fit for apartment-living, though she’d also thrive with a family as she has done great with kids. And while she may look like a little coyote, there is nothing scary about Parsnip -- this easy-going girl has even warmed up to cats!
Even better, this smarty pants is already house trained and her fosters report she sticks to her own toys (and not their shoes!). What a good girl! They also report that she is great at entertaining herself – you won’t see any whining or aggression out of this sweetheart.

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met:
You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age.
Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.
If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.
All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed.
Applicant must live within 50 miles of Chicago if interested in adopting and within 10 miles of Chicago if interested in fostering.
Allow an ALIVE representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat.
Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.
Adoption Donation Amounts:
Dogs over 6 months old: $325
Dogs under 6 months old: $400
Dogs over 7 years old: $150
Rabbits: $150
Cats: $175
If you are adopting a bonded pair, the adoption donation will be as reflected above, but as a buy one, get one free.
We require a $75 training deposit at the time of adopting a dog. You will be required to enroll and complete a training class with your new dog at one of our approved training facilities within 3 months of adoption in order for the deposit to be refunded.
