My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Tom is just a ball of love!

Hi guys! My name is Tom, a 2.5 years old, neutered male Terrier mix. I am about 50 lbs and just a total love! I may start off a little shy and insecure, but that’s just because I’ve had a rough start. Abandoned and mistreated back in Ensenada, Mexico, I’ve learned to be cautious of loud noises and even the broom. But don’t worry—once I know I’m safe, my true personality shines through!

I’m fully bathroom, leash, and crate trained, and I handle my crate like a champ—no anxiety here! I’m very dog-friendly and love to play with my furry friends. I’m also good with kids, but a gentle reminder that I can be quite strong! When it comes to playtime, my energy is through the roof! I adore chasing after toys and splashing in water. But after a fun play session, I’m just as happy to relax at home, snuggling up and enjoying some quality TV time with you. I’ve got a knack for changing the mood around me—whether you need a laugh or a cuddle, I’m here to help!

I’d thrive in a home with an active lifestyle, especially if you enjoy hiking or outdoor adventures. I’ve shared my life with over ten other dogs, and I’m adaptable—happy alone or with company. All I need is a loving family that lets me show my love in return. If you’re looking for a playful companion who will bring joy and gratitude to your life, I’m your guy! Let’s make some wonderful memories together! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
