My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shimmer (now called Luna) is fostered in St. Peters, MO (STL MO area).

Hello potential adopters! Do you enjoy all the different phases of the moon at night? How cool would it be to have your own moon to enjoy all the time? Well, you can! Meet our beautiful girl, Luna, whose name translates to moon!

Luna is a standard size black tri with a bobtail. She is a young girl at 3 years old and weighs 40 lbs. Luna came into foster as a stray so not a lot is known about her previous experiences or background. Luna has made so much progress learning to live in a home and continues to learn more every day. She lives with other dogs and plays well with them. She also enjoys playing by herself tossing toys around, over and over.

Luna can be a tad skittish with loud noises. We are working with her on her noise sensitivities and she will need her new family to be patient and understanding while continuing her progress. She can be shy meeting new people but she warms up quickly with lots of good food. Once you're friends she loves to be close to you and will be your shadow.

Luna is house trained and crate trained. She has gotten into things and counter-surfed in the past, but her foster home continues to work on this. She is learning leash walking skills but she will pull if she smells something good nearby!  She loves walks, car rides, attention from her family, and playing fetch with her foster dad. We do recommend a physically fenced yard for her - a 6 ft privacy fencing would be ideal.

Luna would like a quieter home where she can have time to adjust and the opportunity to become part of your family. Because of her initial shyness with strangers or new people Luna would enjoy a home with adults and older children (12 and up).  Do you think our girl is a match for you? Would you like to chat about or meet her? Click Adopt under her picture and fill out the application.

Shimmer is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations.  She is also receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  If you have what Shimmer needs, please visit our website to find out information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
