My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shimmer (now called Luna) is fostered in the St Louis, MO area.

Please meet the beautiful Shimmer, now called Luna by her foster family.  She is an approximately 3-year-old black tri female Australian Shepherd. She currently weighs about 40 lbs.  She is shy and timid at first but loves to be close to her person; a constant companion following you from room to room.  Prior to rescue, Shimmer was running free in a neighborhood in mid-Missouri and once contained, no owner came forward for her so she landed in a shelter.

Shimmer is learning all things about living in a home.  She is always ready for a walk or a car ride. She can be a little demanding if you stop petting her.  Somewhat funny, but she truly is afraid of sneezes. She will run away if a human sneezes.  She is being fostered with two other female dogs and plays well with them. She loves her walks, but still needs work a bit on walking etiquette with pulling if she smells something good.

Shimmer's past is unknown, and for that reason, it has left her very skittish with noises so she will need an adopter that will provide some patience and extra understanding. Shimmer has been known to play with dog toys by herself, throwing them up in the air over and over again. She also likes to play fetch the ball with her faster dad and loves to de-stuff dog toys.

Shimmer is houe trained and crate trained, but prefers not to be confined.  When left alone in the house without a crate, she has been known to counter surf and help herself to things she shouldn't but her foster home is working on this.  In her foster home, she does have access to a dog door and a fenced yard.  We do recommend a physically fenced yard for her. Shimmer would also best in a quieter home without children under age 12.

Shimmer is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations.  She is also receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  If you have what Shimmer needs, please visit our website to find out information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
