Howdy folks, I’m a sweet older female Beagle named Blueberry and I have had a terrible start to life. I was raised by the Amish in Missouri, kept in a crate, and used for breeding, repeatedly, along with many other purebred dogs so our puppies could be auctioned. Many people don't realize that when we are about 8 years old they “retire” us which really means shoot and kill us, so many dog rescues offer to take us to find normal wonderful happy loving homes instead, and this is how I came to be with 4 Little Paws Rescue. I’m an 8-year-old, 21 lb lover-girl, and I couldn't feel more grateful to now be in a foster home in San Antonio Texas.
My foster mom says I am easy as pie… blueberry of course… friendly, calm, affectionate, and down to earth. I’m mostly a couch potato preferring a peaceful, easygoing household, but when there is chaos afoot, I’m nosey and inquisitive and off the couch to check things out, and then I return to relaxation mode… UNLESS we can go for a ride in the truck or take a walk to the park! I am friendly with other dogs but I am not playful, at all, not even toys look fun to me, but staring at my foster mom in the dark so it freaks her out is enjoyable, LOL! I love pets and tummy rubs, snuggling beside my person, and I give howls for communication. I’ll howl for mealtime, howl to go outside to potty, and howl to tattle on the younger dogs causing a ruckus. Otherwise, I’m a quiet girl, well-behaved and housebroken. I am in no way ready for retirement, have gobs of love to give and I am so looking forward to being someone's cherished forever dog, proudly wearing a pretty collar with my name and your phone number on the tag. East Coast people, Inquire about me today and bring me home!

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
