My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This staff favorite, Tarot, is a special girl with a heart full of potential and a world all her own.
Tarot is blind, and her sensitivity to changes in her environment makes her a bit cautious at first. In the shelter, she has shown signs of stress, such as hiding and avoiding touch, but this is simply her way of navigating a world filled with unfamiliar people.

Tarot is looking for a patient adopter (or adopters) who will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. She would love a quiet, secure space to decompress, ideally away from heavy foot traffic and loud noises. It may take her a few days or even weeks to adjust, but with your understanding and attention to her body language, she will gradually open up.

Due to her blindness, Tarot thrives in a calm, predictable environment with plenty of hiding spots and vertical surfaces like cat trees. A cat-savvy adopter who can read her signs and respect her boundaries will help her feel more at ease.

Tarot is looking for someone as special and as sweet as she is. She prefers to initiate interactions at her own pace, and with gentle patience, she will start seeking out your company and affection.Tarot could do well with a calm, cat-savvy dog or another cat, but she will need her own space and a gentle approach. Children should be experienced with shy, sensitive cats.

If you`re looking for a sweet, quiet companion who just needs a little extra time to adjust, Tarot might be the perfect match for you. Please don`t overlook this very special gal—she is truly one of a kind.

If you think Tarot could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter.

We have open adoption hours from 11:30am to 5pm daily—no appointment or application needed.
You are welcome to enter our cat rooms during open hours. Our staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you!

Additional adoption info

Come in during open hours 11:30am-5pm if you see an animal you are interested in adopting!

Our Northeast Animal Shelter(NEAS) location also allows you to submit an inquiry online prior to visiting the shelter. Submitting an inquiry is not a hold, reservation, or guarantee on an animal adoption, it just gives NEAS a bit more information on you and allows staff to email you additional information on our adoption process.

We ask that you be in a position to adopt the day you visit with an animal. Our goal with adoption is to find a great match and have the animal stay in care for the least amount of time possible.

See www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ for more information on adopting from the MSPCA-Angell Northeast Animal Shelter.

More about this shelter

Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is now part of the MSPCA-Angell, giving us a better opportunity to serve our community, provide additional life-saving programs and services, and protect more animals from cruelty and neglect.

Our adoption program is designed to be welcoming, nonjudgmental, and free of lengthy applications. We strive to engage all prospective adopters in a conversation aimed at matching an adopter’s lifestyle, interests and home environment with an animal’s personality, medical and behavioral needs. Adopting an animal is an extraordinary opportunity to choose your newest family member. At the MSPCA it is a great privilege for our staff and volunteers to guide that journey for adopters and animals.
