More about this rescue

Call: 573-416-0841.

Cuddle Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and no-kill cat only rescue that is completely foster based in Hannibal, Missouri. Cuddle Cat Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abandoned, sick and injured cats in Hannibal and surrounding areas. We provide support for the cats in our care until they are deemed healthy and fit for adoption with their new family.

Our most notable rescue in 2018 was Miya who is a symbolization of what Cuddle Cat Rescue is and what we work for day after day. Miya was left in the freezing temperatures causing severe frost bite to her ears. Frostbite is extremely painful and essentially her ears died and had to come off. She was very malnourished – weighing only half of what she should normally weigh. Her back bone and ribs are very prominent. She was very weak when help finally arrived.

Miya was frightened of literally everything and made waffling sounds when approach. She didn’t meow or play, she exhibited no normal cat behaviors. She is finally starting to be a normal cat and is just starting to trust other people in her life while she is in foster care. Helping to transition a cat from barely holding on to shining like a star and from touching just one heart to touching the entire community is what we work for. Our rescue is where cats go to transform one day at a time.

We pull most of our cats from high kill animal shelters in the Missouri area and we take them from owners that are needing to rehome their cat due to a variety of different reasons including behavioral issues and medical problems that need emergency treatment. This also includes abusive situations and situations where the cat’s well being is in danger. We will occasionally take in feral kittens to tame them down in addition to the sick and injured cats that we accept into our rescue.

Our primary goal is to save lives and to educate the public about important topics in the cat care community such as overpopulation and proper cat care. Our recent initiative has been to help spay and neuter community cats to help prevent the birth of hundreds of unwanted kittens.

Each cat that is brought into our rescue are cared for like they are our own because we want them to live a happy and pampered life while they are with us. All potential adopters are screened with our standard screening and application process which ensures that each cat will go to a home that provides the proper care for them. All cats are spayed or neutered prior to being placed into their new home. Our cats will also receive their updated vaccinations, a complete deworming against common parasites and more.

We adopt our cats into their forever homes by word of mouth, through our website, social media and by our adoption events at various locations. We offer free counseling to adopters for nutrition, behavior modification, training and how to give them the best life possible. Surrendering your cat to Cuddle Cat Rescue should be considered only after you have explored other avenues and resources for keeping your cat. Any donation made to Cuddle Cat Rescue is highly appreciated.
