Canela is a 1-year-old, 50lb, white and tan beauty with a spirited personality and plenty of love to share! Raised in a family home with kids ranging in age from 1 to 16, she’s proven herself to be gentle with children, though she sometimes gets jumpy in her excitement to play. She’s also great with small dogs and loves having space to run around! However, Canela is a bit of an escape artist—she once tried to dig her way to freedom, so a secure yard is a must for her. This playful girl has a knack for mischief when left alone, from chewing on shoes to dismantling squeaky toys, but when she’s with her people, she’s all about bonding and attention. Canela is always up for a game of fetch and has a funny habit of running off with toys. Canela’s high prey drive means she isn’t suited for a home with cats or small animals. During her time at the shelter, she has warmed up quickly, eagerly investigating her surroundings and jumping up to greet caretakers and volunteer (especially if they have treats in hand!). When introduced to another dog on a trail walk, Canela was curious and playful, displaying play bows and an enthusiastic tail wag. She would likely thrive in a home with a high-energy dog who can keep up with her active play style. Canela is also respectful during mealtimes and allows food to be taken away without fuss, though she appreciates her own space while eating. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and protective companion with a love of family, Canela could be your perfect match. She would do best with an experienced owner who can provide her with plenty of physical and mental stimulation, as well as a secure home where she can continue to share her boundless energy and affection!
