Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

The public are welcome to visit our current animals up for adoption during our visitng hours.

2.

Submit Application

Is there a pet you are interested in visiting with? Please fill out an application; the application does not obligate you to any commitments

3.

Approve Application

Once preapproved, you may visit one or more of our adoptable pets.

4.

Meet the Pet

Visit with our dogs in the meet and greet rooms. The cats are in our wonderful HABICAT.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

You love the pet & want them to be apart of your family? Lets do this! We'll print/sign the contract, & pet you know when they can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

As of 4/1/2019, all dog adoptions are $130, plus a dog licence. Adult cats 4mos+ are $5, kittens under 3mos are $40.

Persons wishing to adopt an animal can visit the Animal Shelter kennels and choose from a wide variety of dogs and cats.

Adopting an animal from the Kent County Animal Shelter is a rewarding experience! Some animals may be ready to go home with you the day of adoption and others may need to stay a few days to allow us time to get them spayed or neutered. Our skilled counselors are here to help guide you through the adoption process.

The Animal Shelter provides a variety of enforcement, educational, and animal disposition services including dog licensing, cruelty and complaint investigation, pet care presentations, and animal adoption.

The Animal Shelter is Kent County's animal control authority and is an excellent source of information about animal care, animal control regulations, and other animal-related community resources. KCAS staff can also answer your questions about exotic pets, rabies in non-domestic animals, or refer you to agencies that deal with livestock, wild animals, and breeding.
