This helps Doxie By Proxy Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Sugar is, as her name implies, the sweetest girl in the world! This darling girl hasn't ever met a stranger despite having faced some pretty sad circumstances that landed her in the arms of rescue. It is quite evident that Sugar has been so loved in her lifetime but that love came to halt when her owner passed away and she was brought to the shelter with her dog buddy (who had already been rescued prior to our getting called for Sugar).
Sugar is no young gun -- her fast paced days are well behind her and she is very content to follow you from room to room until you finally land on the recliner (actually, we aren't sure that Sugar has ever really had fast paced days). Sugar has a birth deformity that has left her with a significantly deformed front leg and paw that cannot bear any weight. That doesn't bother Sugar, she manages just fine! In fact, instead of your pity she would prefer your love instead. Sugar is quick to wag her tail and make new friends everywhere she goes.
There really is not much of a downside to loving little Sugar. She does need some help with her potty habits -- it appears whomever loved her before maybe overlooked her accidents from time to time. But if you get her on a good routine and take her out often, she does quite well when she is outside (but only if you stay outside with her). If going for walks, Sugar would prefer to ride in a stroller as navigating life as a 3-legged older lady is a bit difficult. And speaking of old -- we really do not have any idea Sugar's age but we are sure she is over the age of 8 and probably under the age of 10 -- but age is just a number anyway and Sugar says her love is what is most important!
Sugar gets along great with other dogs and cat friends -- just wishing to mostly move around the house from recliner to sofa and back to the recliner again (at your pace)! She would be fine around children too though young children might be a bit much for her low key preferences.
Sugar is in excellent health! She just had a dental recently and is current on all other vetting. Now it is time for us to help Sugar find that 5-star retirement home we have been telling her about (though her foster dad is so crazy about her and said if he could swing just one more of his own, she would be the one he would choose)!
