My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hibachi!

This clever girl came to us from Dog Control and sadly, no owner came forward for to claim her. She can be nervous around men and strangers, but she's incredibly smart and learns quickly, especially when treats are involved. Hibachi already knows how to sit and loves to show off her skills! So far she has been great with other dogs and has a friendly disposition. Because of her initial shyness, she might do best in a home without young children. With patience and care, Hibachi will make a loyal and loving companion.

If you are interested in her please come and meet her at the shelter from 12 pm - 4pm Tuesday - Saturday. We are open on Sundays and Mondays by appointment only.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
