My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nugget!

Nugget is an adorable 1.5 year old Border Collie mix who is ready to find her forever home! With her sweet personality and affectionate nature, Nugget is the kind of pup who loves to be around people and is always eager to make new friends. Whether she's curling up next to you for a nap or following you around the house, Nugget's devotion will make her a wonderful companion.

Nugget has a social side, too! She came into the shelter with a couple of other dogs and has shown that she enjoys the company of other canine friends. If you already have a dog in your home, Nugget would likely fit right in and could thrive with a playmate. However, Nugget may have a strong prey drive and would likely not do well in a home with cats. We believe a cat-free household would be the best fit for her.

Nugget is still learning the ropes when it comes to manners. She's got lots of playful energy, which means she can get a little too excited when out on walks and might need some help with leash training. We feel that due to Nugget's behaviour, she would not be suitable to go into a home with small children, as she can jump up, and get over excited easily. However, the great news is that Nugget is highly food-motivated, which makes training with her fun! With some consistent guidance and plenty of yummy treats, she's sure to pick up good habits in no time.

Because of her breed mix, Nugget is not just an active dog but also a smart one. Border Collies are known for their intelligence and working instincts, so Nugget will benefit from plenty of mental stimulation to keep her sharp and happy. We recommend using puzzle toys, Kongs, snuffle mats, or even trying out fun training games to keep her mind engaged. A combination of physical and mental exercise will ensure she stays healthy and well-behaved.

Do you think you could be Nugget's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or

2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!
