My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opie is a handsome black and white American Staffordshire Terrier looking for his forever family! This cutie is around 1-2yr old, and weighs 70lbs. Poor Opie was found by his foster family as a stray on the side of the road. He was severely malnourished (weighing 45lbs), with a bare coat, and open wounds all over his body. His foster family has nursed him back to health and now he's ready to be loved for the rest of his days! Opie is potty trained (knows how to use a doggy door), crate trained (6hr), and knows his basic commands. Opie is a strong boy, but is learning his leash manners, and he thrives when he receives one on one training! He is cat reactive, so no felines for this boy. Opie is dog friendly and loves to run and play with other dogs in his fenced yard. This sweet boy also enjoys the companionship of kids, and would shine in a home where he has younger people to spend his days with! Opie is a joyful, sweet, and intelligent boy! He is the total package for someone looking for a loving and loyal companion. Due to his size and strength, someone that has experience with dogs his size is preferred. Opie would love a home with a fenced yard, and another playful and friendly dog to spend time with. Opie will be neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped before an adoption is finalized. If you're interested in adopting this sweet boy, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.November 11, 2024, 8:55 pm

Additional adoption info

The dogs that we have available for adoption have come from shelters where they were found stray or were given up by their owners. These dogs have been let down by humans in the past and may be suffering from physical ailments or abuse. So, by the time these dogs come into our rescue group they have been thru a lot and need a home that can provide them with structure, guidance, love, patience and time to adjust to their new surroundings. Please understand that as dogs transition from shelter to foster home to forever home there can be set backs along the way and they will need your help to adjust.

All dogs that are adopted from BarkVille are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with all necessary veterinary care. However, owning a pet can be expensive and you must be prepared to provide quality food, monthly heartworm medication, monthly flea and tick medication, yearly shots and routine checkups. In addition, you must prepare for accidents and illnesses that may require expensive treatment or surgeries. Many times our dogs have ended up in shelters because their previous owners were not prepared for these expenses and we want to ensure this never happens to them again.

We strive to know and understand each of our dogs so that we can work to find the best match for each dog and adopter.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application, adoption interview, meet and greet, veterinary reference check, personal reference check and home visit prior to making the adoption final. We reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not a good fit for any of our dogs for any reason. If you are ready to make a commitment to one of our dogs please complete the adoption application and submit for review. The adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal: Age 7 and up is $300, Between age 7 to 1 year is $350. Puppies under the age of 1 year is $400.

More about this rescue

BarkVille Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit. We envision a world where all dogs reside in responsible, loving homes.

Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. The dogs are then placed in foster homes while they await placement into their permanent home.

Our goal is to help dogs without regard to age, breed, size, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.
