My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy, we are Diesel & Dixie, 2 adorable Australian Blue Heeler mix puppies about 4 months old, and only about 7 lbs, so one of our parents must be a Chihuahua. We were picked up by the San Antonio Animal Shelter as stray puppies and we were a wreck. With very little fur due to Sarcoptic Mange, we ended up scheduled for euthanasia. Fortunately, some humans know this is very easily treatable and that’s exactly what happened. A foster for 4 Little Paws Rescue picked us up and got to work. Just 1 month later, we are gorgeous, happy, healthy, and ready to find forever homes! Easy-Peasy!

I’m Diesel, a cool dude with a medium energy level and a gentle demeanor. I currently weigh 7 lbs, and although I didn't get all the fancy coloring and blue eyes like Dixie, I make up for it with my great personality. I’m friendly with people, love playing with other dogs, and smart enough to know my sister is in charge, so I let her be. I’m sweet and affectionate, rarely bark, and my foster mom says I deserve to be spoiled and doted on. I have learned how to use a potty-pad while I spent time in quarantine, and amazingly I’m still not bothered by being in a crate. Nothing fazes me. I’m just a good boy, gentle and grateful, and looking forward to a wonderful future somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard.

PUPDATE!!! I just moved to Connecticut so come over to meet me! Just be prepared to fall in love and take me home!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
