My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lotus was found alone, living in the woods at a local lake. She was very skinny, and very afraid.  But from the very first day, she was also so thankful to be rescued, to have cuddles and people and friends! Lotus is still a very shy girl when she first meets you, but food and snuggles win her heart. Once she warms up she`s a `Velcro dog`- she wants to be with you all the time. She is OK sleeping alone in her room or in a crate- but she would rather sleep on you (Lotus is not big on personal space). Lotus has great dog skills and really enjoys her canine playmates. Just like with people, she can be a little bit slow to warm up to new dogs but once she`s comfortable she`s happy to play, snuggle, and share her toys. She has been nonreactive to cats on walks. Speaking of walks- those seem to be new for her, and full of potentially scary things. But she is walking a little farther every day, and her leash manners are good. She also knows how to sit. She has done well with potty training, but her foster Mom works from home so she gets lots of breaks. Lotus is a big, young dog with tons of energy!  She is learning to not jump up on people in excitement but it`s a work in progress, so be aware if any family members are very small or have mobility issues.  She definitely needs an outlet for her energy- she would love a confident canine playmate or some older kids to run with. Inquire about this lovely lady today!

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
