My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank, our 38 pound 6 month old mix, doesn't believe in unrequited love. He's sure, given just a bit more time, the cat is going to love him just as much as Hank loves the cat. Undeterred but the cat's indifference, Hank continues to flirt. He even plays to the cat's ego by dramatically pretending to be knocked over when the cat paws at him. Considering that Hank loves everyone this much, we're sure he'll move on from this potential heartbreak as soon as he finds his own home.

Found stray and very injured, the shelter staff fell for Hank and asked us to take him in. Likely hit by a car, Hank sustained multiple injuries to his pelvis and back legs. Thanks to his incredible foster family and the @1510Foundation for covering Hank's care in its entirety, we were able to get him in to an orthopedic surgeon. Initially unable to walk at all, Hank can now walk on a leash and is getting stronger every day! We suspect he'll always have an odd gait and may never be a dog that can go on long hikes, but he's comfortable and can do most of the same things any other dog can do.

Besides swooning over his cat roommate, Hank is also good with cats he sees outside and is great with other dogs. Friendly to all people, Hank greets everyone with smiles and wags. He loves to be pet, especially on his belly, and is cuddly when he's not busy playing. Hank is mostly potty trained, crate trained, smart and eager to please. Described as cheery and silly, we think Hank would likely fit in anywhere.

Like most puppies, Hank turns any object into a toy. He is good at self-entertaining that way and can spend most of the afternoon with a stick. Hank is fairly high energy and his ideal adopter will want to continue to work on his training. It should be easy and fun. Unless you want to train Hank to catch flies; he is hilariously bad at that. We suspect Hank will be about 50-60 pounds fully grown.

Hank is current on his flea and heartworm preventions and is heartworm negative.

Although the cat may not be a Hank fan, we sure are. Think yours is the home for our little charmer? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
