Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Toad is a big boy with a big personality. He is looking for an owner who is active, and can give him the energy outlet that he needs. He is working with our staff on using a harness, as he is a big puller.
He came to us through an Animal Control Officer, so we do not know a lot about his background. We have found that most dogs do not like Toad, and the couple that do, either don`t know how to handle him, or he doesn`t like them. He needs to be an only dog, with no expectation to meet other dogs. His body language when he has seen a cat through a window tells us he would not be the kind of friend cats hope for in a dog, so he needs to be the only pet in the home. Due to Toad being a bull in a china shop, he`s not recommended to go home with young children, unless they are very sturdy, and don`t mind being knocked down.
Toad has a slightly elongated soft palate, which means he may sound wheezy when getting exercise, but our veterinarian feels corrective surgery is not necessary. He may need a little guidance from his human friends to slow down when he`s having fun and is go-go-go.
A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Toad`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Toad.
