My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

1 year old lynx point Casper is an affectionate, considerate guy who loves all forms of pets and scratches. Casper has Feline leukemia virus (FeLV). Cats are commonly infected through either extended contact with affected cats or directly from their mothers. After exposure, some cats become infected, but their immune system effectively fights the virus. Other cats eventually succumb to disease related to FeLV, but they may live a normal life for months or years before this occurs. If you are considering an FeLV cat for adoption, we will discuss all medical history with you, including any related or unrelated current medical concerns. FeLV is a “slow” virus and can take months to years before it causes problems.

If you are interested in adopting from the City of Georgetown Animal Shelter, please fill out an application at https://records.georgetown.org/Forms/AdoptApp . Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment to meet available dogs and cats. Please contact the shelter with any additional questions

The application/screening process for potential adopters usually takes about 24 hours except when it falls over a weekend or holiday, and then it may take two or three days. We ask that potential adopters please be patient with us; we are only trying our best to ensure that the homeless pets in our care get the best possible home. All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered (as Texas law mandates).

Our adoption fee is currently $70 for non-residents and $75 for residents*.

The adoption fee includes:

spaying/neutering
vaccinations (appropriate to species and age)
heartworm or feline leukemia test (appropriate to species and age)
de-worming medication
microchip (a tiny ID tag inserted under the skin, which allows your pet to be returned to you quickly)

There is a $5 Pet License fee added to the adoption fee if the adopter lives inside the City Limits of Georgetown.

Please visit our website for more information on how to adopt, special events, adoption application, educational and volunteer information.
