My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Babs is a delightful 9-year-old chihuahua with a loving heart and a playful personality, but she's also got a little sass to her, especially when it comes to other dogs! Babs is closely bonded to her best friend, Buster, and they must be adopted together. This dynamic duo will bring double the love, joy, and entertainment to any home. Babs loves to follow you around the house, checking in for pets and playtime, before settling down nearby for a peaceful nap.

Babs is cat-friendly and great with her companion Buster, but she can be a bit rude to other dogs, so she'll do best as the only two dogs in the home. She thrives on affection and attention and loves being with her person, always nearby, whether you're moving from room to room or relaxing together on the couch. Babs is as sweet as she is independent, and she'll be your constant companion, keeping you company through the day and offering snuggles when you need them most.

Babs and Buster make a wonderful pair for anyone seeking loyal, affectionate companions who will bring love, joy, and plenty of playfulness to their life. If you're looking for two sweet, low-maintenance dogs who are ready to be your best friends, Babs and Buster are waiting for you!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
