Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Loomis and his 4 siblings (who will be vetted on November 6th) came into rescue in pretty bad shape. The lady who initially took them in stated they were almost hairless and bloated from worms. She dewormed them and applied a flea control until we could take them in. Their hair started to come back but they were still bloated when we picked them up and heavily infested with hookworms so we dewormed them again with a Drontal and they are gorgeous and thriving now. Loomis and his siblings are really friendly, loving pups. We saw a picture of their mom who was a purebred Australian shepherd (who also had hairloss-we assume it was probably flea related since applying flea control helped tremendously). We believe dad to be a lab or lab mix so we expect the pups to mature to a medium to smaller large size. These pups have personality and love attention. They definitely had a great start with social skills despite their lack of early health care so they should fit easily into any home or family environment. Since they are pups, they are blank slates and you will be able to acclimate them to your kids, cats, farm animals and so on so they can live peacefully amongst them. Also, being pups, they will require training as they are not housebroken or crate trained. They have not experienced a leash either. They do well in a fenced area and have not shown a desire to climb or dig out. They will have a lot to learn, as most babies do but we feel that they will grow up to be wonderful, cherished members of the family with alittle effort and time invested to help them to become the best dogs that they can be. If you want a fun pup who makes you laugh and exudes personality, look no further than Loomis and his siblings!
Loomis saw the vet on 10/30/24 and was found to have no issues on his exam. He also tested negative on his fecal. Initially, we gad Loomis checked on 10/16/24 and he was loaded with hookworms and anemic so we dewormed him with Drontal. He also had patchy hair loss which has also cleared up now. Hecis too young for a heartworm test but he has started on heartworm prevention and flea control (Simparica Trio). Loomis weighed 12 pounds as of 10/30/24, nearly doubling his weight of 6.7 pounds on 10/16/24.
If interested in giving Loomis his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Loomis's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Loomis based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
