My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sage and I am wearing a beautiful soft tuxedo of gray and white.  I am a happy kitty and will run to greet you at the door.  Sage loves being petted on the top of her head and you will hear her motor running.  She is a quiet kitten that is a bit shy until she gets to know you.  Sage loves playing with her toys and her feline friends.  Her birthday is 5/27/2024, up to date on vaccinations and spayed.  Sage is looking for an inside home with toys and a family that will give her time to adjust. She will reward your patience with love!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The animals in our care urgently need a permanent home where someone can provide individual loving care and attention. Please consider adopting your family pet from the Humane Society of McCormick County. We require that you sign an adoption agreement wherein you commit to take proper care of the pet. The adoption fee is $125 for dogs and $65 for cats. Every animal has been given all appropriate vaccinations. Every animal that is old enough has been spayed/neutered.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events at the Petco and PetSmart stores in Aiken on various Saturdays or you can visit our shelter by appointment. Please call 864-391-2349 or email us at HSMC2000@gmail.com to make an appointment to see our selection of loving and adoptable dogs and cats.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a private, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in September 2000. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and we operate the only shelter in the county. Our rural county is a very poor county in South Carolina.

McCormick County does not allocate any money for a county or city shelter and we do not have any veterinarians in our county.

We are all our county has for any help with animals.

We approach this problem through our "No more litters... fix your critters" low cost spay/neuter program. We altered a total of 272 dogs and cats in 2020! (95 McCormick County owned dogs and cats free of charge to those who qualified for it, 119 HSMC rescues, and 58 trap-neuter/spay-return-monitor.)
