My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

ABRACADABRA hails from Deer Lake and came south to find her forever family. She recently had puppies but they didn’t come into our rescue with her. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated including rabies and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion then look no further than this beautiful girl. She loves spending time with her foster family and seeks attention from them any chance she gets.
ABRACADABRA is crate trained and has been sleeping quietly in it at night and will also take her naps in it during the day. She is housetrained and she’s had zero accidents in her foster home. She’s been working on her leash skills and has come a long way with them since coming into foster care. She has good manners and will sit for her meals and does know the basic commands. She’s fostered with 2 dogs and gets along very well with them. She’s well socialized with both people and dogs and that’s mainly due to being on the hiking trails every day near her foster home and meeting lots of them there. To our knowledge she hasn’t met a cat so we’re not recommending she go to one at this time. However, if you have a cat savvy dog and are prepared to do a slow monitored introduction with them then they could possibly live in harmony. Children should be aged 6 and up and be loving, gentle and caring towards animals.
ABRACADABRA would love an active family who will give her lots of walks and hikes. She travels well in a vehicle so would be a great companion on those camping trips and adventures. She loves to play with all the different dog toys in her home and especially likes to chase a ball around. She requires a fenced yard so she can run around and play plus be kept safe.
If ABRACADABRA sounds like the right fit for you then please submit an adoption application to meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
