My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for an already housetrained little black dog who will brighten your days for years to come?
Consider Taurus.

Taurus is an 18 month - 2 year old, 17 pound, neutered male Chihuahua/Min Pin/Yorkie mix (DNA tested).

Taurus is a fun guy who may take his time to get to know you. He will then want to be your friend, go for walks with you, zoom around the yard whenever possible, perch high on a couch pillow while you watch TV or work on the computer & sleep in your bed (under the covers much of the time).

Taurus is cautious when meeting new people. Taurus would love bonding & learning with his best friend while taking training classes.

Our limited experience observing Taurus’s reaction to small children leads us to recommend a household without younger children.

Taurus would consider a canine playmate a plus. He likes all the dogs he has met. The more time Taurus has spent with the dogs in his foster home, the more he has enticed them to play with him.
A small dog secure FENCED yard is a must. Quick Taurus loves to roam & survey his domain. His preferred activity level is higher than average.

Taurus is housetrained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on heartworm, flea & tick preventatives.

Our vet’s exam showed Taurus to be 18 months to 2 years old & in excellent health. Taurus may not be a health food nut, but he considers broccoli as good as a few of the treats he has been offered. Oddly enough, although a chewer of sticks outside, we have not found a crunchy treat Taurus wants. He has favored several varieties of the soft ones.

Taurus's adoption fee is $500.

If you’re interested in Taurus, first you may want to see him in action & learn more about him on his public Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61566382906267) or search on Taurus of Heather’s Foster Dogs.

If then you’re even more interested, then go to heathersfosterdogs.org. Using the menu at the top of the page, click on “Adoption Application.” Complete & submit an adoption application online. You will be contacted after it is forwarded to Taurus’s foster grandpa. No meeting will be scheduled before he has had an opportunity to review an application.

Who We Look For

In short, Heather’s Foster Dogs is looking for responsible, dedicated, and loving pet owners for our foster animals. This means a couple of things:

-You feel that pets are an important part of the family. They do not spend their days and nights living outside in the yard, chained to a doghouse or locked up in a kennel. Pets belong safe and warm in your home.
-You understand that regular veterinary visits with a licensed veterinarian are important to maintaining the health and well being of your pet. This means regular exams, administering medication when prescribed, and keeping your pet up-to-date on vaccinations.
-You believe in POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training only and will seek the help of an experienced professional trainer if necessary or recommended.
-You understand that adding a pet to your family is a commitment that should last for the ENTIRE LIFE OF THAT PET.

To adopt a dog from Heather’s Foster Dogs, you must…

-Be at least 21 years of age
-Have a valid form of identification (a driver’s license or
state ID)
-Verify that you are allowed to have a dog of the breed
and size where you currently live
-Understand that a fenced yard may be required for a
dog you are interested in
-Understand that training may be required for the dog
you are interested in
-Understand that HFD reserves the right to check
veterinarian and personal references
-Bring along all household members including any
resident dogs or children to meet the dog you hope to
adopt

TO ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: Heather’s Foster Dogs is dedicated to eliminating shelter overcrowding once and for all. We understand the only way to really achieve this goal is by cutting down on the number of unwanted animals born every year. As such, HFD tirelessly promotes spay/neuter for all companion animals, and in fact requires this as part of our adoption agreement. If you currently own an animal that is intact (meaning it is NOT spayed/neutered), and there is no medical reason as to why your pet has not been spayed/neutered, HFD cannot in good faith approve you to adopt one of our foster animals.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Heather’s Foster Dogs does NOT ship animals. No matter where you live, no matter how far, you will be expected to meet with HFD in person for your adoption interview and pet pick up.

HFD reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant if we feel they are not the best fit for the animal they’ve applied to adopt.

And please, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Email Heather’s Foster Dogs at heathersfosterdogsinfo@gmail.com and we will be happy to speak with you further.

More about this rescue

Heather’s Foster Dogs strives to educate people through public interaction and to ease shelter populations by placing animals in temporary foster homes where we can address medical and behavioral problems while actively searching for permanent placement.
