My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Annette (pendergraft@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.

Lunar is a beautiful gray male kitten, DOB Sept. 9, 2024. Since it was a full moon, and Lunar is my most skittish kitten, he got a celestial name. His coat is a beautiful silver which suits his name perfectly! In the weeks I have been fostering, he has made a complete turnaround, especially since his brother and his sister were adopted. This kitten, who would not let me hold him in the beginning, learned to love the feeling of being petted. After daily interactions with him, he has now become a lap kitten. He will get comfortable in my lap, 'make biscuits' and take comfy kitten naps on my lap. This shows me his trust in humans has grown exponentially, and I am really enjoying working with him to get him ready for his forever home. Lunar likes to play with other kittens, but if he is in a home with no kittens, as he has been recently, he is very happy with his human interaction and quality bonding time.  The adoption fee is $150. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR, Rabies, flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

More about this rescue

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County North Carolina since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community. We have made the decision to use our resources to continue promoting the number one solution to our pet overpopulation problem - and that is spay/neuter. Our mailing address is still PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. Our website (http://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org) is always current, and you can contact us through the web. You will receive a prompt reply. We have adoptable pets posted on the site. If you need to find a home for a pet, you may contact us to have your pet posted on our website. We also post on Petfinder.com and PetAdoptionPortal.com.
