`We’re looking for the perfect family to give a loving home to our sweet Chocolate Labrador, and we hope it could be you! Ragnar is 2 years old and weighs about 95-pounds, and is American Kennel Club registered. We took him in as a rescue after his previous owner tragically passed away, but with small kids in the house (ages 8, 6, and 2), we’ve come to realize that he’s just too big and energetic for our little ones. Ragnar is good around other dogs. Lots of our friends have dogs and he plays well with them and isn`t aggressive.
He listens well, responds to positive reinforcement, and has been trained for common commands (come, sit, stay, heel, lay down, bird retrieval). He’s also neutered, kennel trained, and up-to-date on all shots and dewormer. In calm times, he listens to basically every command. However, at `exciting` times, he can become distracted and sometimes takes extra reinforcement to listen. He does have a bit of a tendency to jump up and will sometimes do the `labragator` thing with his mouth open, but it`s just his way of playing and he`s really a gentle dog. He is a very gentle and `cuddly` dog, especially at night after dinner.
He absolutely loves the water and would thrive in a home with space to run and play. He’s a natural retriever, and with the right guidance, he’d make a fantastic bird dog for a hunter or a loyal companion for a family with older children who can keep up with his playful spirit. He loves going on car rides and rides in a car very well, even for long trips.
Ragnar can catch a frisbee in the air, even if you throw it really far.
We know he’ll make someone incredibly happy—he just needs the right environment and a little patience to shine. If you have experience with big dogs or are looking for an active, loving companion, he could be the perfect fit.
All his paperwork, including his AKS registered pedigree, will come with him. He also comes with some dog food and all the necessary accessories/toys.`

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.
We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.
UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
