My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Romeo is an 8-year-old cuddly cat looking for his forever home!

This cute tabby guy is a total sweetheart, just like his name suggests. He adores cuddling and being pet, and his favorite spot is curled up right on your chest, purring contentedly all day long. He needs a quieter home as this love-bug does not love loud noises and a lot of commotion. He is one chatty cat—especially when he is hungry or looking for some attention.

Things Romeo LOVES:
*His morning bowl of wet food
*Head and back scratches
*Exploring under beds and couches
*Meowing for more attention or cuddles

Romeo spends most of his day sleeping or hiding in his favorite cozy spots, but he'll come out to chat, eat, or explore when he’s ready. He prefers to be fed early in the morning and enjoys a little playtime and apartment exploration, though he's not overly energetic.

He lives with one person in an apartment. His foster human is home most days (working from home 3/5 days per week). Romeo enjoys the attention and company of his person, so a similar setup in his forever home would be best.

Romeo would thrive in a calm, quieter home with just one or two people who can give him lots of attention. He'd do best in a peaceful environment where he can enjoy his favorite cozy spots and have plenty of quiet time, with gentle companionship when he's ready for affection. A low-traffic household would likely suit him perfectly. He is unknown with cats or kids at this point (but no dogs, please).

This super-cute boy is a little bit chunky, so you may need to help him clean himself as he cannot bend in certain ways. It would also be great if his forever humans could work with his vet to get him on some weight maintenance food, so he can live his best and healthiest life.

If you’re looking for a super-friendly, loving, chatty boy, then step out on your balcony and invite handsome Romeo in for a visit!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
