Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Putting a new meaning to the phrase "tall, dark, and handsome," Boaz is the definition of a show-stopper! First he grabs your attention with his sheer size - not only is he tall, he's got dinner plates for feet! Then, his expressive, warm eyes and soft, blocky features keep your interest piqued. Hook, line, and sinker, his unforgettable disposition seals the deal, and just like that, he's found a permanent place in your heart.
Some have said he's reminiscent of a hound mix; others see Anatolian shepherd his features. Whatever the truth of his breed mix may be, he's the perfect example of a gentle giant. On the day he arrived, he spent several hours in the office. You would never guess that he'd just left he shelter where he grew up. He was friendly with every stranger that said hello to him; every time someone opened the office door, his excitement was palpable as he presented himself or greeting. Eventually, he was ready to settle down on the couch with a chew toy, curling himself up tight and tiny as he dozed off.
The more time we spend with Boaz, the more it is seeming that he is a low-to-medium energy, low-maintenance, couch potato type of guy! We think his ideal placement would be one where he gets to spend the majority of the day lounging around on a couch and dozing. He'd enjoy some focused playtime or a nice walk, but he seems to prefer chilling stretched out on the furniture - bonus points if you join him for some QUALITY cuddles and some half-hearted wrestling.
Before coming to FFAA, Boaz was actually at Carthage Humane Society where his stay totaled over 500 days. He spent most of his puppyhood in a kennel environment, but it hasn't dimmed his spirit in the slightest. Gentle and friendly, Boaz is undeniably in need of a patient and guiding hand - when he is excited he has a hard time controlling his need to put his mouth on whatever emotional support human is the closest! He will tug (gently and with a lot of restraint) on clothing or gnaw on an available elbow. His actions are entirely without malice - basically he has too many big emotions and has to direct them somewhere! It's an adorable habit, just not one that is ideal for a dog his size. He redirects easily to a toy; he's just never had the opportunity for consistent and repetitive guidance!
Boaz has never met an enemy in either humans or dogs! He is initially protective of his space; his gigantic frame and DEEP booming bark are very intimidatingly, but all his bravado dies away the moment he realizes that whoever has come into this area is actually a human and therefore his new bestie for the restie. We were told his leash manners are pretty good too! His constant good nature, endearing quirks, playful and positive attitude make him an easy choice for almost anyone looking for their new pet.

More about this shelter
Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, Inc is a non-profit organization committed to helping our community become a place where animals are treated with kindness and respect. Further, we want to be a voice for the welfare of animals in our community through various avenues.
We fulfill these goals by taking in homeless and vulnerable animals, rehabilitating, vetting, and preparing them for their future home, and ensuring that they are a good fit for those interested. Our goal is longevity - we are thorough when approving applications because we want their next home to be forever.
Our pledge to the animals under our charge knows no time limits. Our no-kill mission means that as long as it takes, we will keep searching for their perfect home. And if during that search, they need to rejoin our care, we welcome them with open arms no matter how long it has been.
People
From our paid staff to volunteers that support us at events and throughout the week, the dedicated and passionate community members that are involved in FFAA's mission are what keep us going. We always welcome new faces! If you are interested or know someone who would like to support our efforts, please contact us. We could not do it without our foster families, dog walkers, kennel cleaners, puppy and kitten socializers, event organizers, artists, chefs - everything we do is a group effort and thanks to the time and effort given freely and faithfully year after year.
