Shya is a 1 year 3 month old Australian Kelpie mix, weighing about 30lbs.

She was found as a stray and taken to a shelter where she was due to be euthanized, but was saved by an emergency foster at the last minute. She now needs her forever home.

Shya is very sweet and loving, but timid and scared (submissive, non-aggressive), and needs someone with time and patience to help her learn to trust again. She settled into her foster home within a couple of hours, and is very playful with her foster mom. She loves cuddles and belly rubs! She does suffer from separation anxiety, and will need to be helped through this.

She is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations and fully housebroken. She is smart, with a lovely temperament, and will make a wonderful addition to the right family.

Shya gets on well with other dogs. Timid at first, she loves to chase and be chased by small dogs, or dogs her own size. Wrestling is also great fun! She is good with large, chill dogs, but scared of boisterous dogs, or dogs that bark continually. Good with cats, but scared of children.

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
