My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Swarthmore, PA.
They call me Gene but I don’t know what my real name is yet. I prefer “LoveBug” because I am the definition of a Velcro dog. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE people and other dogs. I’m not sure about cats or kids since I haven’t met any yet.

While I’m told I’m around 3yrs old, I act more like a puppy. I’m just starting to learn about these things called manners so I’m looking for someone who doesn’t mind continuing to work with me (they say patience is a virtue). I am a true cattle dog so I can be a bit stubborn but I honestly aim to please.

I love being outside and can walk on a leash with just a little bit of pulling. I haven’t had any accidents in the house and I’m working on crate training. I’ll be the best companion, especially if you’re the outdoorsy type (I’m energetic). Some couch cuddle time is also a passion of mine! Looking for love!

Medical: Gene came to us as a stray with quite a few wounds that needed suturing and his left eye bulging. His eyeball has retracted but he is blind in that eye. His vet has said that it does not need to be removed at this time. It does not stop him from living and loving life to the fullest. He really is a happy go lucky dog looking for his forever home.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
