AUSTIN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Austin       Best Guess for Breed: Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix, maybe some Aussie too

Best Guess for Age:  1 year 3 months as of October 2024       SEX:   Male

Approximate Weight:  32 lbs

Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.

Currently Living at:  DC Area foster home

Austin is Looking For:   His forever family! Look at his great markings and coloring. Those speckles are likely from heeler heritage - so his coat likely covers a high-octane, high-energy body! Heelers can run all day. Austin, as a young dog, might need a lot of  just that - activity. Mere daily walks and/or time in the yard won't be enough. Austin is looking for someone who's up for multiple long walks a day, daily trips to parks or other places where he can run, and lots of mental stimulation / enrichment. He would love an adopter who loves being active as much as he does and wants a buddy for fun adventures.

And he wants cuddles too! Most of all, he wants to know he's safe and loved, where he belongs, and upon whom to bestow all his adoring gazes and happy tail wags. What do you say? Is Austin the one you see running by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Austin is a very sweet boy. He’s very timid and unsure of new people and places but he’s showing signs that he’s learning to trust people again. He likes to know where you are around the house but isn’t super affectionate [so far]…. He does get along well with our household dogs.

7 Nov Foster update:   While he is still timid, he has become much more affectionate. He loves couch cuddles and will walk up to you and ask for pets! Sometimes he still sleeps under the bed but he has become much more interested in sleeping IN it!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
