FITCH NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Fitch and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 3rd) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!
Name: Fitch Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 months as of 10/19/24 SEX: Male
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 2.2 lbs as of 9/27/24 (updated weight coming!)
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs and cats so long as they receive patience and proper training.
We would be cautious placing Fitch in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home.
Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
Fitch is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Fitch! My mama Abercrombie and I landed in a Texas shelter and that was not awesome. Shelter staff told me all about how I'd get my forever home when I go to the DC area, and I can't wait! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am.
What do you say? Do you have room in your lap and your life for me?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.
Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than February 19, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
