RUDY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Rudy Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of January 2025 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 34.6 lbs
Gets Along With: Rudy does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog! We haven't seen him with cats, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Special Adoption Considerations: Because Rudy is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Rudy in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Rudy is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this small sweetie ended up in the shelter. He wants nothing more than to trot through the world with confidence, but right now he hasn't had enough experience in new places. He's looking for extra loving and patient humans who will show him the world at his pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog. Ultimately, he wants sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures his family can dream up! Exploring all the toys also sounds great, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.
Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him there by your side when you look down?
What My Foster Says About Me: Rudy is a sweet, shy dog who is good in his crate and loves to spend time in there to feel safe. He is quiet and takes a little time to get comfortable. He is also good with kids and dogs! And - his foster wants you to know that he loves cucumbers, cabbage, and apples as treats!
He was also in boarding in the DC area for a bit, and our boarding partner also said he did great with the other dogs, big or small. He loved to play with other dogs - and also loved to sleep. When staff members sit on the ground, he wanted to be close. On walks, he was still a little scared but started to warm up and do better after a while. The staff said, 'we all love him here and only want the best for him!' According to them as well - Rudy also wants you to know that he LOVES WHIPPED CREAM!!!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
