RUDY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Rudy Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 9 months old as of October 2024 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 24.5 lbs as of 10/16/24; he is still growing
Gets Along With: Rudy does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested.
Special Adoption Considerations: Because Rudy is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Rudy in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Currently Living at: DC area boarding facility -- would love a foster to stay with while searching for his forever home!
Rudy is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this small sweetie ended up in the shelter. He wants nothing more than to trot through the world with confidence, but right now he hasn't had enough experience in new places. He's looking for extra loving and patient humans who will show him the world at his pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog. Ultimately, he wants sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures his family can dream up! Exploring all the toys also sounds great, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.
Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him there by your side when you look down?
What My Foster Says About Me: Rudy is a sweet, shy dog who is good in his crate and loves to spend time in there to feel safe. He is quiet and takes a little time to get comfortable. He is also good with kids and dogs! A few walks a day is good for him right now but when he warms up, that could change. Hopefully with some TLC and lots of love, he will start to open up and show us his playful side at home :-)
Our boarding partner also said he is doing great with the other dogs!! He loves to play with other dogs and also loves to sleep. He has gotten used to the staff here and is warming up. When staff members sit on the ground he wants to be close. On walks, he is still a little scared but has done better. He is great with dogs big or small. The staff says, 'we all love him here and only want the best for him!' Rudy also wants you to know that he LOVES WHIPCREAM!!!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
