RAPUNZEL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Rapunzel Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix, maybe some terrier
Best Guess for Age: 8 years as of October 2024 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 17 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home!
Special adoption considerations: Rapunzel is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.
About Rapunzel:
The two-legged Rapunzel was a long-haired damsel in distress who needed to be rescued from her tower.
This four-legged Rapunzel was a terribly long-haired damsel in distress who needed to be rescued from deplorable conditions. Only last July (2024), she had been a filthy, overgrown and matted mess, rescued from a terrible situation in a barn along with several other senior dogs. They were known as the Tangled 10 and they all required so much vetting and grooming.
Rapunzel got all cleaned up and healthy. She went into an amazing foster home in South Carolina, where she learned what love is like and to trust humans. What a cushy bed is like, what quality food tastes like. She's still learning all about the world - she's got lost time to make up for!
Now she is oh so eager to have her very own home, to be safe and loved for all her days. A home where she gets to get the long sniffy walks she didn't get to do the first part of her life, where she gets to see the world. What do you say? Does she get to do that by your side? Do you get all the love, adoring gazes, and loyal companionship she has to offer?
What My DC Area Foster Says About Me:
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
