My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUGGY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Buggy         Best Guess for Breed: Retriever type mix, some lab maybe

Best Guess for Age: 9 years as of October 2024     SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight:  25 lbs

Gets Along With:   Buggy does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested.

Currently Living at:  Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here.

Special adoption considerations:  Buggy is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. We would be cautious placing Buggy in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.

Buggy is Looking For:    Her safe landing. Her fresh start. Her forever. Through no fault of her own, this sweet senior ended up in the shelter. She's confused and scared, and wants nothing more than to know where she belongs, to trot through the world with confidence. Extra patient and loving adopters who understand she needs to gain new experiences in new places at her pace, and a welcoming resident dog to show her how to dog will help her with that!

Most of all, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days. She has so much love, so many adoring gazes to give in return. She just needs her humans. What do you say? Are you hers? Is she the loving, loyal companion you have been seeking?

What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
