SABRINA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Sabrina Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and lab mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of November 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 49 lbs as of November 2024
Gets Along With: Other dogs. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up here after she has completed heartworm treatment.
Special Adoption Considerations: Sabrina is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Sabrina is Looking For: First, you need to know what shelter staff say about Sabrina. She is a sweet girl! She is very submissive. She gets along fantastically with other pups and people.
She's a young girl and has so much life to live, so much to see and do. She'd love to do it all by the side of her humans. Long sniffy walks, romps in parks, all the adventures her new family can dream up - yes, please! But what she wants most of all is to know where she belongs, that she's safe and loved for all her days.
What do you say? Does Sabrina get her fresh start with you? Do you luck out with this sweet, loving girl?
What My Foster Says About Me: Shelter staff say that Sabrina loves playing 'tag' in the play yard with other dogs - aka, chase and be chased. She sometimes will play the role as the 'ruff-eree' and makes sure all of the dogs are getting along in play group.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
