This sweet garbanzo bean is Inez - she is playful, spunky and independent. She entertains herself with toys - the krinkle toys are her favorite! She is learning a lot from our resident dog, but doesn’t necessarily need another canine companion as she is quite independent. Since she is still teething, she’s a shoe thief and loves to find things to chomp on. Her potty training is in progress but she is very treat motivated. She’ll succeed with a family that gives her a good routine. She’s interested but scared of the resident cats and chickens so a dog savvy cat will do just fine. She’s energetic and wants to keep up with the pack, but also naps as hard as she plays. Inez loves to snuggle up at your feet when you’re having your relaxing couch time. She sleeps in her pen at night with a snuggle blanket. For being so small, she is surprisingly confident and brave. She’s curious and loves to know what you’re doing in the other room. Inez is estimated to be 7 weeks old and 4 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
