Dilly is chihuahua through and through. He very quickly learned potty rules (outside, no pads), leash walking and kennel training, but will protest if his human isn't within sight or another dog to snuggle with (defiant chi'tude if not getting his way). 100% a companion, Dilly will happily go shopping, enjoy car rides, hang at social events and otherwise, mostly on perfect behavior. He is endlessly curious, enjoys walking, being carried, and playing with the resident dog. But mostly, Dilly loves to be loved and cuddled and wants nothing more than to be next to his people. Sometimes Dilly can love his person so hard that if another dog approaches, he will try to protect and show how tough he is, yet he'll quickly adapt and accept the dog once he knows it's safe. He LOVES to sleep snuggled right up against his person's body for the night, but when he has to be left behind at home with his fur siblings, he hangs in a kennel with bedding to burrow into. He cries at first, but if he is kenneled next to another fur baby, he settles much faster. He doesn't always know his boundaries because he wants to be number one, so he will try to explore your dinner plate, check out the inside of fur siblings mouths to see if they are hiding treats, sit on your lap while you use the restroom so he can know what's happening and if you pet another dog in the home, he will push his way into the mix and command your other hand. He also eats in his crate so he isn't tempted to take the food off his friends' plates. He is teeny tiny, so to be handled with great care. He gets along with his very large foster fur sister, but can't be next to her when excited as he'd be trampled and hurt, so will require gentle fur siblings in his new home, any size is ok with him as long as they want to love and play with him. Sometimes he prefers the kids in the home over all else, but ultimately will choose his person based on who feeds him. He bonds hard and loves harder. If you want a pup to love you endlessly, Dilly is 100% your guy. You can't find a chihuahua much cuter and he'll proudly show you that daily!

**Note on breed and age determination:
Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:
- Wellness check
- Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate)
- Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo
- Heartworm test if over 7 months of age
- Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites

~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care.
