Andy is a handsome male German Shepherd estimated around 1.5 years of age. Andy was originally a stray therefore we do not know his history or background prior to arriving at the shelter.
Andy is a big boy with an ever bigger personality. He is a very rambunctious, goofy boy in his foster home and has such a sweet personality. However, he is also a bit uncertain in new situations and meeting new people/dogs. He is going to need some help finding the right confidence to go along with his size. Andy is very eager to please and food motivated making him a quick learner. He is a fan of routine and will happily hold you to whatever routine you've taught him - especially breakfast and dinner times! Andy has been around children 10 years and up with no concerns but given his size and energy level we would not currently recommend him for a home with younger children.
Andy is figuring out other dogs but still has some socialization to catch up on. He can be pretty insecure meeting new dogs on leash and will tuck tail and try to hide oftentimes. He is slowly learning how to be more neutral when seeing dogs out and about and is doing a great job. He has acclimated to living with other dogs in his foster home but doesn't engage in any one-on-one play just yet. When the other dogs get rambunctious in the yard Andy keeps to himself or tries to hide behind your legs. He may be the largest dog in the yard but he doesn't seem to know that. Andy has NOT been introduced to any dogs under 35 lbs or to cats at this time.
Andy is a sweet, sometimes shy, boy looking for a family to give his big heart to. If you're the home for Andy email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
