My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie Lou Freebush is a super sweet 10-year-old Chihuahua. Gracie is very affectionate and will go belly up if I start petting her. Like most chihuahuas she is like a little shadow and we have learned to be very careful not to step on her. She will want to be right next to you all the time.

Gracie has a great appetite and will hang out in the kitchen if I'm cooking. If I'm at the particular counter where we prepare the animal food, she will hop around and put her paws on the cabinets. She is protective of her food so Gracie should be fed separately.

Gracie is perfectly house trained and gets very excited when I pick up her leash to go outside. She will reverse sneeze for a bit every single time. At some point on walks, she will sniff the ground, suddenly flip over onto her back and wiggle around for a bit.

Gracie is completely crate trained and doesn't make a peep when she is in there. She has no separation anxiety at all. So far Gracie is not really interested in dog toys and would rather nibble on your hand. If I'm on the floor and petting her belly she may get excited by my hand. She flips over and does a play bow like she wants to chase. However, if she grabs my hand, we stop because I don't want to encourage that.

Gracie has been fine with all other dogs we've come across. She will sniff them a bit but quickly prefers the attention of the owner or back to me. She ignores my cat. She is usually behind me wherever I am but if I turn around too quick she seems to cower and I have accidentally bumped her a few times but she's still right there. Because of this I'm not sure she'd do well with super young kids who aren't able to be really careful. Older kids in the home would be better for this gal.

Come meet this sweet little lady asap! Please complete an adoption application and be sure to ask for GRACIE LOU FREEBUSH! Her adoption fee is $250.

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
