Hello Everyone!
My name is Bouncy Benji and I’m a three year old Bichon Havanese mix who is 16 pounds of happy energy and fun. My foster Mom says I’m a very special boy who is very smart (more on that in a minute) and am ridiculously cute. I love to walk (I actually prance), play with toys (I can entertain myself if you are busy), am smart, sweet and both observant and respectful of ‘the rules of the house’. Perhaps the most amazing thing about me, though, is my love of life – and resilience.
Before I became a FurKid I lived outside with other dogs and very little human attention. There were a lot of us so we never got to sit on laps or go for walks or learn commands. We didn’t get belly rubs or rides in the car or get to be groomed and feel good. All of that changed a few weeks ago. Now I have this great foster home, a doggy foster sister to observe and learn from – and I get cuddles and snuggles from Mom. (I’ve learned how to ask for them too!)
In no time at all, I have learned the joy of going for a walk. I now take walks of two miles or more every morning and trot like a pony with a big smile on my face. Mom says that I truly love being outdoors-- and not just on walks! (She doesn’t have a yard so if I had a yard to sun and run in why I think I’d be in heaven!) I don’t tug on my leash or bark at other dogs either! Mom says I’m also her secret diet! You see, she’s lost weight taking me on my walks! Those walks help me to enjoy my ‘down time’ at home where I can show how smart I am by mastering puzzles and playing games like ‘find the hidden toy --or treat!
Each day I’m making up for lost time, learning new things and exploring the world around me. I’ve mastered lots of things very quickly. Mom says that shows I’m learning commands and would like to learn more. Oh, and after a lot of activity, I love to stretch out on the floor (Mom says it’s my Superman stretch.) I’ve also been known to take a nap in that position.)
I’m housebroken and crate trained (I go to sleep quietly in my crate after my last walk and stay asleep until morning) and I definitely respond to love AND structure. Because I have a lot of puppy energy, Mom has some ‘tricks’ she uses to channel my excitement when we’re getting ready for a walk. (She promises to share them with you as they make me very happy!)
My Ideal Home:
*An active couple or person to love
*Someone home most of the time
*No other pup required – I can be an ‘only’
*Adults or a family with older children
Experience level:
*Have had dogs as an adult
*Recent/current dog experience a plus
*Rescue dog experience also a plus
So if you are looking for a companion to share your life, keep you active, are patient and committed to helping me become the bestest little guy I can be, please complete our application and ask for me as I’m applying for the job!

Our Adoption Procedure: We require a written application at www.bichonfurkids.org
2.
Approve Application
All applications are screened and responded to by an Applications Coordinator.
3.
Home Check
We require a home/yard safety check which is done with a checklist and photos due to COVID restrictions.
4.
Approve Application
Once approved, our Placement Volunteers get in touch then forward applications that appear to be a good fit to the foster parents
5.
Meet the Pet
They then contact adopters to schedule a virtual adoption visit prior to an adoption visit held outdoors in keeping with COVID requirements
Additional adoption info
Prospective adopters must complete an online application available on our web site. A volunteer then conducts a telephone interview to review the application, followed by requesting a home and yard safety check. Once that has been completed - and if the prospective adopter is approved -the Placement staff will talk with the approved adopter to provide information regarding pups in our foster program that may represent a fit. That will be followed by the foster Moms and Dads contacting the approved adopter to answer questions and schedule an adoption visit at the foster home.
We require an adoption contract for each furkid plus the adoption donation. The fee for pups over one year of age
is $400.00 and is tax-deductible. The adoption fee for our puppies is $500. Our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated when adopted and come with an 'adoption kit' which includes a bed, blanket, pillow, leash, collar, vitamins, toy and treats.
Donations beyond our adoption fee are also appreciated so that we can rescue and save more lives.

Our pets are all cared for in loving foster homes. While in foster care, the foster family ensures that they receive lots of tender loving care, have any medical needs addressed, get lots of exercise and training. This gives the foster family an opportunity to learn about each pup's personality so we can develop a bio that describes the furkid. In turn that knowledge enables us to better assist you in selecting a dog that will be the best fit for you and your family.
