My name is Cher and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 2 y.o. and weigh 33 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Chicago from a shelter, where a kind person brought me after they found me outside all alone. My human had a serious health crisis and couldn’t care for me any longer. I’m very friendly with people and I’m a very good girl. I’m very well-behaved on leash and enjoy greeting the other people and dogs we meet. I like belly rubs and I love to play - with people and with other dogs – and with toys. Seriously, I’ll play with anything – even a stalk of broccoli! But if you’re busy, I am content to keep myself occupied. I’m potty trained and not destructive or anxious when left alone. I’m tolerant of handling, like when my foster mom wipes my face and paws off after our walks. I’m really smart and know all kinds of tricks! I know “sit,” “up,” and “down”– even with just hand gestures – and am learning “couch” and “off.” Foster mom says I’m a sweetheart, with a bit of sassy (just so you know I really am a Shiba). I don’t bark, but I will talk to you if I’ve got opinions. My perfect forever home would have lots and lots of toys… and people to hang out with and play fetch with. I’d enjoy a dog-friend to play with, though I don’t always understand how to read their signals, so it will be helpful if they are patient and understanding. I haven’t lived with any cats or other small pets, but I did meet a really tiny puppy once and I was fine with him. I haven’t lived with any little human kids, but I’m very curious about them. Foster mom thinks that I’d be okay with them as long as there is an adult around to make sure I use good manners and don’t play too rough. I’m a healthy girl, spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
